A reconstruction of the mean European temperature using data from global climate models

A reconstruction of the mean annual European temperature variations for the past 600 years is considered. Fidelity testing of some frequently used methods for the reconstruction of the past climate is provided employing the instrumental data based on the pseudo-proxies. Temporal variations of the reconstruction accuracy are estimated. A method combining tree-ring data and global climate model simulation is suggested allowing us to reduce an underestimation of the low frequency variations of the mean annual European temperature. end{abstract}
