A numerical study of the influence of a reserviour on the spreading of a passive admixture from a point source

An equation of turbulent transport is used for modeling the spatial-temporal variabi-lity of concentrations of a passive tracer. A three-dimension mesoscale non-hydrostatic model of atmospheric hydrodynamics over a complex terrain is applied for modelling of the atmospheric circulation above the thermally and topographically inhomogeneous underlying surface. Thermal inhomogeneity of the Earth surface is a result of the combined influence of a water reservoir and an urban heat island, as well as daily variations of the insulation of the slopes. For an estimation of the effect of a water reservoir on the transport of pollutants we perform the calculations for both scenarios (with and without water) in the reservoir. We present the results of several numerical experiments with different location of pollution sources near the city and water reservoir.
