Variational study on the use of Lagrange multipliers in a triangular finite element shell of revolution

In this paper we present the results of studies of variable Lagrange multipliers in the algorithm for construction of stiffness matrices for the triangular discretization elements. It is shown that the most effective is the algorithm based on the application of corrective Lagrange multipliers in the midpoints of the sides of a triangular finite element compared to ones that use numerical integration of the given multipliers using sides of à triangular discretization element. Examples of calculation for a cylindrical shell are presented that confirm high efficiency of the developed technique in comparison with the standard finite element procedure for à triangular element of discretization
