Numerical modeling of the processes of nanopores formation in the film of aluminium oxide

In the present work, modeling of the process of a nanopore growth in the aluminium oxide film is considered under the conditions when an ordered array of crack defects at the film surface has already existed due to the reasons discussed below. Chemical reactions of oxide formation and dissolution induced by electric field in these cracks determine the formation and propagation of nanopores. A curvilinear computational grid has been applied for numerical solution of Laplace equation. Beltrami equations have been utilized for the grid construction. The results of numerical modeling demonstrated significant influence of the non-uniform distribution of electric field along the surface of nanopore on its growth rate and surface development.
