Numerical algorithm for fully developed laminar flow of a non-Newtonian fluid through an eccentric annulus
A numerical algorithm for the fully developed laminar flow of a non-Newtonian viscous-plastic fluid through an eccentric annulus with rotated inner cylinder is presented. The numerical scheme is based on the finite volume method and SIMPLEC algorithm for the pressure-velocity coupling. Pressure gradient in the stream wise direction is determined by integral force balance. To model flows of fluid with a yield stress, a viscosity regularisation method is used. Simulations are performed for various geometrics and flow regimes. In some cases comparisons between numerical calculations and known analytical solutions or experimental results are presented. The calculations are in good quantitative agreement with the available test data.
