Numerical modeling of propagation of femtosecond laser pulses in non-linear media

We present a model and a finite-difference scheme for its numerical realization for studies of propagation of powerful ultra short laser pulses in non-linear media. The model is based on the non-linear Maxwell's equations taking into account frequency dispersion and Kerr effect, which are supplemented by the hydrodynamic-type equations for describing the dynamics of free electrons generated by the laser pulse. The processes of multiphoton ionization, collisional ionization and electron recombination are accounted for. The data of model testing and some physical results are described.
