Using the virtualized HPC infrastructure of Novosibirsk Scientific Center for production analysis of HEP experiments data
Experimental data processing in High Energy Physics (HEP) is performed on clusters processing batch jobs. The resources necessary for timely completion of the processing tasks may exceed the capacity of a cluster system. The demands can be met by utilizing resources of several clusters simultaneously. We present an approach to organizing dynamic virtual clusters build of virtual machines running on nodes of several physical clusters. This approach was implemented using the network and computing infrastructure of Novosibirsk Scientific Center to complete data processing tasks for HEP experiments performed at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. This contribution gives a review of the present status and future development prospects for the NSC virtualized computing infrastructure and the experience gained while using it for running production data analysis jobs related to HEP experiments.
