Recognizing solvability of interval equations and its application to data analysis

The paper considers the problem of recognizing solvability (nonemptyness of the solution set) for interval systems of linear algebraic equations. For its solution, we propose a method based on maximization of the recognizing functional of the solution set. As an application, we propose a new method for parameter estimation of the linear models from experimental data under interval uncertainty ("maximum consistency method''). An outlier detection technique is developed. Comparisons between maximum consistency method and traditional least squares method are presented.
