The compact difference scheme on adaptive grid for wave equation

Object of research in this paper is the adaptive technology of calculation for difference schemes of the increased accuracy. We investigate the compact difference scheme which approximates the wave equation with the third order on a nonuniform space grid and with the fourth order on constant time step.

The grid is reconstructed on each step on time by almost classical method, however in addition the effective way of correction of a grid is proposed. This operation is focused on smoothing of too sharp change of a step in areas of considerable curvature. Such areas are located, for example, on tops and at the bottom of a soliton or near the front of a shockwave.

The results of numerical experiments are presented on exact solutions in the form of smoothing shockwaves and solitons, either their combinations. The comparison with other methods has been done.
