Historical background of tsunami studies in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The authors present their view on the historical background of the tsunami studies in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of sciences. This history of these studies is no less variable and exciting than their subject. Researchers of many Institutes engaged in natural science investigations have participated in exploring this problem, and among the authors of publications devoted to various aspects of the problem we can find the names of eminent members of the Academy and mere sophomores, professors of Siberian colleges and universities and postgraduate students. The article gives rather detailed references.
