Optical membrane in a gas flow

The model of ponderomotive action of interfering Gaussian laser beams on the admixture of resonant atoms (ions) moving in a buffer gas flow is considered. It is shown that the light field can play the role of a selective light ``partition" --- the ``optical membrane" for the separation of gases.
