On a possibility of destabilization of subbottom methanehydrates under the influence of global warming

A two-dimensional oceanic climatic model coupled with the heat transport model for the coastal and bottom sedimentary layer are applied in order to simulate the transport of the heat signal from the atmosphere through the ocean to the sedimentary layer. It is shown that in 5-10 years warming may reach the coastal sedimentary layer and destabilize methanehydrate.
