Comparison of accuracy and convergence rate of some TVD-schemes

Versions and modifications of the upstream schemes suggested by Harten, Yee and Chakravarthy have been considered. An attempt to employ a unified approach to Chakra-varthy's principle of the TVD-schemes construction and to the systematization of the well-known limiter functions has been made. One of the main objectives of this study is to investigate the applicability of the TVD-algorithms to the solution of stationary problems using the relaxation method. It is shown that those TVD-schemes which have the highest accuracy of discontinuity representation cannot provide the residual convergence to the macine zero. The optimum choice combining satisfactory accuracy with the high rate of convergence is Chakravarthy's scheme with Van Leer's limiter.
