Inherent modular promoter structure and its application for recognition tools development

New algorithm for eukaryotic promoter recognition based on the special dissection of promoter region into nonoverlapping parts is presented. The recognition function is derived by discriminant analysis of dinucleotides frequencies for each dissected part. The approach suggested was applied to Drosophila melanogaster data set. The recognition performance achieved is comparable with the best results produced by the algorithms proposed earlier.
