Numerical modelling of hydrodynamical processes responsible for dispersion of pollutants in a deep lake

Phisical phenomenon called thermal bar is considered as a possible mechanism for the fast delivery of the surface waters and, as a consequence, the pollutants, to the large depths of a deep lake. A two dimensional non-hydrostatic model is used for the modelling of the thermal bar. One of the main features of the model is the consideration of water compressibility, particularly in the state equation. It is nessessary for the adequate description of physical processes in a deep lake. In the numerical experiments the parameters for lake Baikal conditions are used.
