Numerical simulation of the surface waves and underwater obstacles interaction

The finite-difference algorithm on movable grids is presented for calculation of the interaction between surface waves and submerged obstacles located at the bottom. The collision of a solitary wave, travelling over a horizontal bed, with a cylindrical bump of rectangular cross-section, placed parallel to the incident wave crest, is considered in the framework of the mathematical model of potential two-dimensional flows of an ideal incompressible fluid with a free boundary. The numerical results for the steady problem on fluid flow above a rectangular bump are compared with those from laboratory experiments.
