High performance computing in engineering and science

High Performance Computing (HPC) has become a central part in simulation in engineering and science. We summarize the basic problems and describe the state of the art. A concept for an integrated approach is presented. This covers hardware and software aspects. Examples are presented to show the potential of an HPC workbench for engineering and science.
