Simulation and investigation of flame propagation in pipe with obstacles

The fictitious domain method (FDM) has been extended and implemented for combustion problems in non-regular domains. The case of 2D stoichiometric methane-air flame propagation in a closed rectangular pipe with obstacles is considered. The investigation is based on the assumption of a low Mach number flow and uses one-step global chemistry model of methane-air laminar flame. The numerical solution of the problem is implemented using FDM approach and the detailed hydrodynamic structure of the flame, the burning rate of fuel are investigated depending on the domain configuration.
