Optimization of locations and flow rates of oilfield wells
Producing and injecting oilfield wells operating in the frontal water drive regime are considered. A formulation and numerical solution of the problem of locations and flow rates optimization is suggested. A finite-dimensional approximation of the corresponding continuous optimal control problem with distributed parameters is used. In the case of the reduced discrete problem, analytical formulas for the gradient of the cost functional on all optimized parameters are obtained. The results of numerical experiments are presented.
