Study of the sensitivity of the atmospheric-surface parameters restoration problem to the spectral stability in IR region of spectra

The inverse problem of remote atmospheric measurements from IR sounders above seas is considered with respect to retrieval of the humidity and the temperature profiles as well as the sea surface temperature. Sensitivity of the solutions to the forward and inverse problems arising from the frequency shifts of the measurement channels is analyzed for the IR-spectrometer AIRS. Several approaches based on filtering, calibration and appropriate choice of channels are proposed to reduce sensitivity of results to fluctuations of spectral frequencies.
