Atmospheric chemistry: overview and future challenges

Atmospheric Chemical Mechanisms (ACMs) are fundamental components in atmospheric chemistry aerosol transport models. An overview of the gas-phase chemistry of the atmospheric boundary layer and free troposphere, that should be included in ACMs, will be presented. There is a critical need for improving available ACMs. These challenges will be explained, and a description of where the main direction should be headed will be outlined.
