Investigation of accuracy and error rate performance of the displacement vector construction in evaluation of strains using TV-optical technique

A method for evaluating the strains of surface of solids based on optical image processing and displacement vector construction is tested. The purpose of the study is to reveal the accuracy of the displacement estimation and error rate performance of the method when noise (Gaussian and white), blurring and image brightness distortion are present. We investigate the influence of cracks that occur in an image and thus give rise to a discontinuity of the displacement distribution function on estimation of the strain components. An algorithm allowing reduction of such influence is proposed.
