Finite-difference algorithm for numerical simulation of process of metal plates laser welding

A finite-difference algorithm is formulated on the basis of thermophysical model for numerical simulation of laser butt welding of metal plates. Numerical simulation of welding of aluminium alloy plates is carried out. All physical constant needed for the calculations are taken from the known sources. In the problem of forming weldpool without steam channel, influence of heat exchange increase in the weldpool on the weldpool size is investigated. It is shown that in absence of steam channel essential increase of effective heat conductivity inside the pool leads to relatively small increase in its size and thickness of the welding plates.
