Climatic factors of radial growth dynamics of coniferous species in the Angara region

To analyze relations between dynamics of radial increments of pine-trees and climatic factors of Baikal region, we studied chronologies of pine-tree rings for near-Baikal regions: the middle Angara region (taiga) and the upper Angara region (sub-taiga). The primary influence of atmospheric humidity on the increments of conifers in the upper Angara regions and that of air temperature on the increments in mid-Angara region has been established. The climatic factors that dominate the increments for different physical and geographical conditions of Angara region are found to be the following: the mean monthly temperature (taiga), total precipitation over a hydrological year (sub-taiga). Reconstruction of the revealed limiting factors was made by the linear regression method.
