Modeling of urban air pollution

The issues of numerical modeling of propagation of the main component of air pollution in urban areas are addressed. It is assumed that the wind flow field is given and the effect of the surface is taken into account. Proposed computational procedure is based on separate approximation for differential equations of transfer and mixing of pollutant in the atmosphere and mixture. For operative and strategic air quality management the scheme of optimization of emissions is proposed. This model combined with the GIS allowed us to track the dynamics of pollutant concentrations in the city in order to determine zones with the maximal pollution and to estimate the risks for ecosystem.
