Climatic changes of the upper-air temperature: problems of empirical studies

Some problems of empirical and statistical analysis of the upper-air temperature climate changes are discussed. Several of the existing time series of upper-air temperature anomalies, based both on the radiosonde data and on the satellite data, are discussed and compared. The main attention is given to the study of early 21 century upper-air temperature changes' influence on the long period trends in the time series. For this study, the time series ending in 1998, are compared with those ending in 2005. Both traditional statistical parameters of the time series, and their robust analogs, are provided. The cases when the time series extension through 21 century is affecting the numerical estimates of long-period changes in the upper-air temperature, are discussed.
