On the stability of boundary layer in transonic flow

A role of asymptotic approaches for studies of viscous-inviscid free interaction mechanism is discussed for the case of transonic velocities of external flow. Asymptotic theory provides opportunities to reveal an internal structure of the fluctuation fields, to interpret processes responsible for development of instability and to investigate the behavior of linear and nonlinear pulsations, as well as to indicate the properties of the spectrum of oscillations.
